Mission Statements: How To Create One For Your Business
Small business owners often get so busy with the day-to-day details of running their businesses that they don’t take the time needed to craft a mission statement. Here are some quick tips for writing an effective mission statement for your business.
First, take the time to imagine your business as perfect. What kind of clients would you have? What would be your take-home pay? What would it feel like day-to-day? Relax and let the ideas flow.
Next, brainstorm a few key qualities that you would like your business to known for in the public eye.I found some more information here. Would you like to be known for the highest-quality, lowest price, most specialized service or quickest turn-around? Would you like others to describe your business as dependable, low-price, or responsive? Choose a few key terms that describe not what your business is today, but what you would like it to be!
Finally, put together a few sentences based on what you have written. For example, based on your answers to the above questions, you might write “My business will provide me a pay of at least 1000 per week;I will have other business owners as clients. I will strive to provide high-quality and a quick turnaround time.”
If what you’ve written feels right to you, keep it and read it everyday. Take the time each month to revise and re-think as your business changes.
